Dropifi team makes history in MEST
Established in February 2008, the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) had a core mission to train Ghanaian graduates in Software Development, Business and Entrepreneurship. After a two-year training, the trainees can apply to the Meltwater Foundation for seed funding to start their own software companies. Till date 9 tech start-ups have been funded by the Foudation. The most recent project to be funded is the winner of the recent Start-up weekend, Dropifi.
After just half a year in MEST, the Dropifi team;Kamil Nabong, David Osei and Effah Philips Mensah have been admitted into the Meltwater Incubator. The Managing Director of the foundation Fedrik broke the news to the MEST community with much happiness and excitement via e-mail. Dorpifi is a web messaging platform which provides businesses organisations with the opportunity to obtain more information from persons who fill out contact forms, thus converting such people into customer.
Dropifi is the very first team to be supported by the Meltwater Foundation after only 6-months of training in MEST. Aside the funding, Kamil and his team will get mentorship, office space and access to a network of valuable contacts starting January 2012. These ingredients put in place by the Meltwater Foundation are to increase the chances of success. The Meltwater Incubator companies have won awards in local and global competitions, with the laurels under their belts, the start-ups look forward to a more exciting year in 2012.
